Microchipping is the best way to ensure you are reunited with your lost pet. For only $46.20 you can have your pet microchipped and have a lifetime registration.
Local councils now require that all newly registered pets be microchipped at 3 months of age. It can conveniently be done in a routine consultation. A large needle is used to insert the microchip under the skin between the shoulder blades. The microchip is the size of a grain of rice. Only registered implanters are able to insert a microchip and here at Patterson River all of our vets are registered to perform this procedure.
If your pet gets lost you will then have peace of mind that your pet will be scanned at the local pound and you will be contacted and can be reunited with your pet. It gives you reassurance that you have given your pet every chance to be reunited with you if he or she goes missing. We always scan stray animals that are brought in to us and in most instances that are back with their owner within a few hours if they have been implanted with a microchip.
